Maltese should be thoroughly groomed every other day to maintain good healthy skin and to promote the long, white, silky coat. If you don't intend to show your Maltese some people give there Maltese a cute little Lamb Cut, this makes grooming a little easier. Basic equiptment needed to groom your Maltese are: a pin brush, metal comb, nailclippers, toothbrush, scissors, and eyebrow tweezers. single and double topknots: To do this, you will need a one inch square of waxed paper, or plastic wrap and rubber bands. Part the hair at the outer corners of the eyes and across the top of the head, just in front of the ears. For one topknot merely pull the hair up and away from the eyes like a ponytail. Place the square of material around this section, close to the head.. Fold it over once, and then secure it with a rubberband. Remember practice makes perfect. If double topknots are desired, they are done the same, except that the hair is parted down the middle. |
